The manifesto

The talent is here. Opportunity must meet it.

Young people in Kutlwanong and the wider Matjhabeng community have ideas, stories and potential worth developing. Access to practical learning, mentorship, equipment and routes into real opportunities can be a barrier.

UMC is building a community-led approach that connects young people with creative practice, skills development, visibility and partners who can help turn potential into experience. Our work will grow responsibly as resources, partnerships and programme capacity are confirmed.

What we do

From potential to participation.

01

Scout

We find the hidden talent in the kasi and grow it from zero. Skilled or not, you are welcome.

02

Educate

Media, storytelling, content creation and event support. Learn it, own it.

03

Create

Video, photography, social content, podcasts, sports and event presenting. Content that sounds and looks like us.

04

Activate

Community events that put our talent in front of the people who book and hire.

05

Place

Paid partnerships, internships and freelance gigs with local organisations. We open the door.

Youth pathways in practice

Make room for potential. Build routes to opportunity.

UMC is developing a community-centred platform where young people can participate, learn, contribute and connect with people and organisations willing to invest in their growth. Our approach brings creative expression together with practical skills, mentorship and responsible partnerships.

01

Skills & experience

Support practical learning, portfolio-building and opportunities to gain experience through workshops, guided projects and collaboration.

02

Youth voice & visibility

Create responsible platforms for young people to share ideas, tell community stories and contribute to campaigns that matter.

03

Community partnerships

Connect youth, community organisations, local businesses and skilled volunteers around clearly scoped initiatives and shared goals.

04

Pathways to opportunity

Work towards mentorship, referrals, commissions, internships and other opportunities where partners and resources make them possible.

Built responsibly. Programmes and opportunities will be announced as plans, partners and resources are confirmed. Participation does not guarantee placement, funding or paid work.

The pilot year

Build with the community. Grow with evidence.

Listen first

Engage young people and community stakeholders to understand local interests, barriers and the support that would be most useful.

Design the pilot

Set practical learning outcomes, safeguarding arrangements, delivery responsibilities and a realistic budget before activities begin.

Create and learn

Develop opportunities for media practice, storytelling and creative work, with participant consent and appropriate supervision.

Connect to opportunity

Build relationships with organisations that may offer mentorship, commissions, internships or other opportunities; outcomes will be reported only when confirmed.
